Jack Gilinsky from the duo Jack and Jack treated fans to a private Zoom video chat and posted his number so they can text him.
The singer, who got his start on the popular social media app Vine, had fans in a spur by deleting his posts on Instagram leaving only one photo up telling his followers to text him. Naturally, anyone would think he'd gotten hacked but that wasn't the case at all! The "Rise" singer revealed he had it planned all along!
"Ok everyone's asking me if I'm hacked, like, all my friends and stuff are texting me. I'm not hacked, like, that's legit my number...so text me!"
His sole Instagram post read "text/call me (402) 347-2799" with Gilisnky captioning it "eye emojis".
If you "texted" the number you get "subscribed" in a sense to receiving mass texts from Gilinsky himself.
Do they really come from him? Well, yes! Community, the platform supporting these texts with celebrities describe themselves as a "conversation platform — enabling direct, meaningful and instant communication at a massive scale, all through text messaging." So, technically it really is Gilinsky who you're texting and if you're lucky enough he might even text you back!
Later that day, Bryant Eslava – whom you might recognize for his photography archive full of your favorite celebrities and influencers – announced that he would be hosting a Zoom call with Gilinsky later that night.
If you weren't lucky enough to be one of the few people to get in, then here are a few things he mentioned during the short chat.
Gilisnky talked about future projects claiming that the confusion (pertaining to whether or not he and Jack Johnson have broken up as a duo) would soon "make sense." He also mentioned wanting to reconnect with fans on Twitter where he hasn't posted in over a year and getting back to his social media roots and trying out TikTok trends.
For now, guess we'll just have to wait for the big surprise he has in store!
