Jim Carrey shook twitter after doing extreme "Grinch" facial expression during an interview with Rotten Tomatoes.
When asked about his Sonic character, "Dr. Robotnik," potentially being a Halloween costume, he admitted to being told by fans that they dress up as previous Jim Carrey characters like "The Mask" and even "The Grinch." When mentioning that parents approach him with their kids, pointing out that he is "The Grinch," he doesn't hesitate to maneuver his face in ways that even the parents say "Oh! I thought it was makeup." Sure enough, I thought it was makeup too!
During filming for The Grinch, prosthetics were obviously used. Screen Rant claims over 1,000+ hours were spent applying prosthetics to Carrey's face but the magic of his character's je ne sais quoi would not have been possible without the team and Jim Carrey's unique performance.
